I've heard of yoga for golfers and yoga for surfers, but this is a new one...yoga for gardeners. Yoga instructor Veronica D'Orazio wrote Gardener's Yoga after suffering from a spring-weeding back injury.
To help fellow gardeners stay free from aches and pains and gardening-related injuries, D'Orazio devised a program of 21 stretches to increase strenght and flexibility and protect the body from future injuries.
Gardener's Yoga is divided into three series of stretches to do before, during, and after gardening. The book also features a helpful chart that targets each body part.
I'm not a gardener myself, but my husband and I will be buying a house this summer, so I may very well turn into one. My mother-in-law is an avid gardener (in fact, she's a certified Master Gardener), so I just might pick this book up for her. Could be a good Mother's Day present.
If you or any one you love is a gardener, it's worth checking out.
Namaste!
