Today marks the Winter Solstice and I celebrated in a typical fashion (typical for me) -- I went hiking. This time I hit the trails near dark and walked well past sundown. Afterwards, I wandered around in a small town brightly lit for the holiday season -- a small town that I used to love to visit when I was a teenager. It was fun to revisit it again with fresh eyes. It's still as lovely as it ever was.
I had forgotten about Winter Solstice until I checked my email this morning. The email offered up the following message:
Take time to do yoga and meditation on the Winter Solstice; a moment of time in the midst of your busy holiday schedule to acknowledge healing and the possibility of a miracle in every moment.
I love the last 11 words. Healing and the possibility of a miracle in every moment. I experienced both this evening during my walk. Typically around this time of year I contemplate the past and the future. The contemplation only serves to remind me of the value of the present moment. Like the email said -- the miracle in every moment.
I have a few other words of inspiration today from some favorite poets of mine. Take a few breaths with them and breathe in the meaning. And then go out and experience that miracle...
Observe the wonders as they occur around you. Don't claim them. Feel the artistry moving through and be silent.

The sessions of yoga for health usually begins with slow, gentle warm up exercises. Breathing and gentle stretches are normally the first practices.
There is not need to stop practicing yoga if one is unable to do each posture perfectly. The significance is keeping it mindful and safe. The significance of yoga is about the process itself.

In our busy life we need to spend sometime to do yoga and meditation, a moment of time in your busy holiday schedule to acknowledge healing and the possibility of a miracle in every moment.
