Yes Virginia, there is yoga beyond the gym and the yoga studio! Where there's Internet, there are ways to practice yoga. I'm continually amazed at the proliferation of yoga sites that offer free yoga videos, yoga communities, and all kinds of yoga-related information.
If you're in need of a free yoga injection, look no further than your computer. Here's the latest resources for you to check out:
- Fitness Magazine has joined the ranks of iYogaLife and Prevention Magazine by offering a complete guide to yoga online. Here are some of the highlights:
- If you've ever been curious about AcroYoga, check out this introduction to the practice. I've seen it practiced in Central Park in NYC and a friend of mine has been having fun with this playful practice as well. Think of it as playground time for yogis!
- If you're wanting to lose weight without sacrificing your yoga practice, Fitness Magazine offers this Sun Salutation workout created by Om Yoga's Cyndi Lee that uses the practitioner's body weight to torch calories. The video is under 15 minutes long, but it's recommended to be practiced 4 times in a row for maximum calorie burn.
- If sleep eludes you, try this 8-minute yoga practice for better sleep. Personally, I love doing a little yoga before bed. It's a nice relaxation ritual and I tend to sleep like a baby.
- If low back pain has you grimacing, you can find a little low back RX here.
- There's a lot of content on YouTube and not all of it good. Yoga Online is one of the good ones. Choose from full routines (broken down into segments) for beginners, seniors, as well as a very interesting routine entitled Yoga and the Art of Aging. You can subscribe to the Yoga Online channel on YouTube and/or follow them on Twitter.
- If you want to go beyond yoga practices to connecting with other yogis and discovering yoga resources of all types, I suggest joining MyYogaClub.com. Join in on the forum discussions, promote your services, or interact with like-minded yogis.
All this at the tips of your fingers. Pretty cool, eh? Enjoy!
Namaste!

I have been doing lots of research on various online yoga courses, and
The Yoga Tutor looks like a really good one to consider, if you're planning to learn yoga online.

This is a lovely list! I'm a huge fan of online yoga since I feel that everyone should try to practice every day. Going to a studio daily is not always practical financially, time- or lifestyle- wise, but 20 minutes in the living room sometimes is.
I love Acro too. On occasion I've been one of those people in Central Park (Sheeps Meadow on Sundays!).

I never thought of doing yoga before bed before cos I always thought of yoga sessions of being at least an hour in length. Guess I need to be as "flexible" in my thinking as well. :)
Thanks for all the online yoga resources! Will try some today after work. Cheers!
