love the idea of identifying it as creating space. that sounds so much more approachable & lovely. thanks for the great article. i def need to focus more attention on my meditation practice.

@KC -- Oh, I have so been there. Just give it time and you'll get there. As for chanting, I think it's wonderful. In fact, you might want to start with chanting, as it tends to settle the mind. I used to think that Kirtan and Chanting were the same thing until I took a chanting class. Chanting is a bit more traditional -- a call and response in Sanskrit. It can be hard to find a teacher. You might want to check out Sonia Nelson -- http://www.vedicchantcenter.org/ That's a good place to start. Have fun!

@ThePhoenixRisesAgain -- Awesome insight! Trust me -- there's no "right" way. There's only your way.

@Jules -- I love your story! Thanks for sharing! How wonderful that you've found something that works for you.

Ah.. yes.. meditation has been a HUGE struggle for me and my over active brain. Do it right or don't do it all was my motto. A very wise woman gave me a hint of something to strive for. Took me 6 months of excuses to finally get there.

To just sit and stare at a blank wall. SO uncomfortable but so rewarding at the same time. THAT is how I am making it work for me.

This post definitely speaks to me. I haven't been meditating because I feel I won't be doing it "right" if I don't get up earlier and do it.

I will let go of "right" and meditate according to my own schedule.

Great post. Thank you.

OMB (Oh My Buddah)!!! I am in the phase of my yoga quest where meditating seems like the next step but I have the exact same story as you. I think about it, I read about it, I practice my pranayama, but I never actually do it. I have a very busy mind which is the whole reason yoga spoke to me. I feel like that if I try to meditate it will be pointless. So thank you and Leonie for the link to guided meditation. This sounds like a great place to start. Now what are your thoughts about chanting?

Namaste!!
