It's possible that this might be a new record -- over two weeks has gone by without a post. That's not my usual, that's for sure. The past few weeks my life haven't been quite usual. There's been a lot going on and -- although it's all been great stuff -- it's kept me veeeeery busy. Couple that with a nasty cold (I haven't been sick in well over a year, so that in and of itself was a "slow down now" sign) and BAMMO -- I found myself caught up in more doing than being.
As the dust now settles I'm left feeling a bit...off. The events of the past few weeks are running around in my mind like a hamster on a wheel. It's been hard for me to let certain things go but priorities and sickness remind me that I can only do the best that I can. Some days my best is one Sun Salutation or lying in Savasana for 5 minutes. I always say that I meet my students where they are. Well, the same goes for myself. This past week, especially, I've been meeting myself somewhere between pushing myself to do one more thing and resting even though I have some pressing things on my to-do list.
Today has been a Savasana kind of day -- not much activity with a focus more on being than doing. The few things left on my to-do list can wait until tomorrow. A longer blog post can wait until later this week. For now, this is the best I can do. During the holidays, it's wise to adopt this MO. For some this time is more emotional than other times of the year while for others there are more obligations than usual while for others it's a time of celebration, which can mean less sleep and more running around.
Just remember to meet yourself where you are and know that your best is going to be a moving target depending upon the day. And here are some natural remedies to help you with holiday stress:
